NOW YOU KNOW: USEFUL FACTS WITH PROFESSOR HULGEE – HAM SAMWICH
1.BREAD
Bread was invented more than 10,000 years ago in France by a man named Mr. Bread. Archeologists believe that sometime during this prehistoric era, Mr. Bread first created bread by combining whole wheat flour and water and then cooking the mixture on a rock or a stick.
In 5,000 BC, Mr. Bread traveled to Egypt and taught King Tutankhamun all about bread. He loved it. In fact, King Tut was so excited about this new invention that he built the pyramids so he would have a place to put all his bread. 7800 years later, Napoleon Bonaparte, while on a pilgrimage with the French Army retracing the infamous journey of Mr. Bread, saw the pyramids and hated them so much that he blew them all up.
In ancient Greece, Mr. Bread competed in the first-ever Olympic Baking Championship, which was sponsored by the Food Network and hosted by Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri. He wowed the judges with his olive oil-infused Olympic Rings bread, which became an instant hit, and even led to the creation of the famous "Bread-thins" or, “Pita” bread.
Mr. Bread laid low until the Renaissance in 1450 AD, where he shared his recipe for the perfect loaf with the world. His secret ingredient? Bones.
After that, Mr. Bread pretty much disappeared.
2. HAM
Ham is good and it comes from pigs. Ham has been around since our ancient ancestors first encountered pigs, probably a million years ago. It is thought that these ‘cave’ men probably took one look at a pig and decided that they would be great if they were glazed instead of hairy and covered in mud and dirt.
Ever since then, ham is eaten and enjoyed by all humans regardless of nationality, religion or ham availability. Even people from Antarctica love ham.
There are 4 types of ham – Brown Sugar Glazed, Honey Glazed, Smoke Glazed and Glazed.
You can eat ham every day and it doesn’t even matter. Ham is great with bread, salad, fish and some people put it on pizza.
