THE INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT SAGA OF UPTOWN GRIL, A RESTAURANT.
PART I - I arrived early in the morning to open my restaurant, Uptown Gril. As I unlocked the doors, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of that favorite Bill Joel song coming from the speakers all day and night. It was going to be another great day.
I walked around the dining room, checking to make sure everything was in order. The chairs were neatly arranged around the tables, the napkins were folded just right, the menu was displayed on the wall. It was simple, really: sandwiches on white bread, all served with a side of chips and a pickle.
I had put a lot of thought into the menu. Ham and cheese was the classic choice, but I had also added a few twists. There was a BLT, of course, but I had also added avocado to it to be a jerk. There was a turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich that no one ever bought, as well as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for the kids. And for those who wanted something a little more adventurous, there was the grilled cheese with tomato and pesto. Crazy, I know, but people like all kinda things.
As I stood behind the counter, I hit play on the speakers. Uptown Girl started playing and I was ready for another fantastic day at my fantastic restaurant.
